Brake Pads
The purpose of the brake pads is obvious to most vehicle users but what is less obvious is the varied types of brake pad compounds available. The material of brake pads various depending on the application, power of vehicle and also the weight of the vehicle as different weights and powers have a different requirement of friction levels to bring the vehicle to a stop safely.
Brake Pads that are designed for use on public roads will need to be ECE R90 approved which basically means they will perform similar or better than the pads originally fitted at the vehicle factory.
If you intend to use your vehicle on the track then a different brake pad will be required that can with stand considerably higher temperatures but will also have a considerably higher friction coefficiency.
